Manager of Social Content Strategy

GENERAL SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Digital Marketing, the Manager of Social Content Strategy will be responsible for generating a variety of rich and engaging content that adheres to the brand's style guide for all of our social communities. This person will both support and encourage UGC within these communities and maximize the value of content developed. In addition to planning content, this individual will be responsible for representing the brand on camera via social channels. This will entail being the face of the brand for initiatives such as Facebook Live and other digital events and videos.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, the Manager of Social Content Strategy will work cross-functionally with other areas of the organization such as Creative Services, Web Marketing, Lead Generation, CRM, Product Marketing, PR, Product management and Student and Alumni Communications to ensure creative messaging supports business goals. This person will be responsible for becoming well versed in the brand's products, positioning, and policies in order to effectively represent the brand in the social landscape both via content planning and on camera.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Spearhead the social media content strategy, developing and implementing content plans
  • Understand, monitor, and report on content metrics and growth
  • Perform research on current benchmark trends and audience segments
  • Design and implement social media content strategies to align with overarching business objectives
  • Curate and craft timely, engaging social media content for Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms
  • Suggest and implement new features and ways of driving brand awareness through engaging content
  • Manage social media presence ensuring high levels of customer engagement and amplifying key messages
  • Oversee social media accounts' design i.e. Facebook profile and layout
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar that accounts for key moments across the organization (i.e. start dates, events, etc.)
  • Ensure all content developed is being leveraged appropriately across all platforms
  • Ensure that we are leveraging all ad formats available as appropriate to create a repository of varied and engaging content
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in social media, design tools, and applications

  • Develop and maintain a content calendar for both planned and reactive content needs
  • Develop engaging content for all social media platforms
  • Create development plans for social media content; recommending content types and organization based on user needs and marketing goals, identifying content gaps
  • Develop a cadence for content testing cycles
  • Perform competitive analysis and benchmarking in content breadth, organization, and presentation
  • Ensure content is not only engaging, but fresh and innovative, avoiding burnout and staleness
  • Develop and execute long term content plans
  • Leverage research and apply insights around relevant online conversations to develop a content strategy

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • 7-10 years of relevant, hands-on experience developing social media content management in a competitive and fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple, sometimes competing priorities
  • Proven success in demonstrating the role content plays in social media effectiveness and impact to ROI
  • Advanced knowledge of social campaign management and optimization practices across the major platforms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Strong diplomatic, interpersonal, and team skills are a must
  • In-depth understanding and problem-solving approach to complex, multifunctional projects
  • Demonstrated history of tracking progress, execution, and consistency of social media campaigns
  • Excellent organization and project management skills with an emphasis on being thorough, detail-oriented, and with ability to multi-task
  • Independent worker who has managed various projects on a daily basis with minimal supervision
  • Excellent computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Established track record of turning a brand's story and voice into compelling content
  • Minimum education requirements: B.S. degree in marketing, business, or related field
