Art Director/Senior Graphic Designer

ABOUT AIC

American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

AIC is seeking a creative, self-starter with the ability to meld out of the box designs while embracing institutional tradition. Must deliver high quality projects across multiple communications platforms (print, web, digital) that appeal to various audiences and stakeholders. Attention to detail and the ability to multitask and meet continuous tight deadlines is critical. Knowledge of printing is required.

  • Responsible for AIC's brand management, art direction, graphic design and production of print, online, social media and digital marketing materials and assets including brochures, ads, display ads, posters, flyers, banners, vinyl installations, alumni magazines, viewbooks, newsletters, annual reports, catalogs, mailers, interior and exterior signage, banners, logos, giveaways, displays, wraps and other deliverables
  • Work in conjunction with Marketing and Communications staff, College leadership and other stakeholders to develop institutional messaging across all communications platforms
  • Manage and mentor graphic design staff and student interns
  • Provide exemplary customer service as point of contact for staff and College offices to initiate design projects
  • Manage project timelines and maintain quality control standards for all deliverables
  • Manage print vendors, including bidding process, purchase orders and press checks, project delivery, distribution and mailings
  • Work with AIC's Web Content Manager to ensure publications are available on the College's website as well as support web and digital marketing graphic needs
  • Manage and coordinate the printing and supply of campus stationery including business cards
  • Manage and track print budget
  • Schedule, coordinate, manage and art direct, College photo and video shoots
  • Coordinate and manage computer and paper filing systems
  • Supervise off campus graphic installations and signage
  • Edit and fact check copy when necessary, coordinate with outside writers to manage production schedules for Lucent Magazine and other projects
  • Gather information and specifications for new and recurring projects
  • Other duties as assigned including assignments scheduled evenings and weekends as required
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Degree(s): Bachelors
  • Required Field of Expertise: 5 years experience in branding and designing publications and web assets for print and electronic media
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Graphic design
  • Required Training/Cert: Experience using Adobe CS products
  • Preferred Training/Cert: Proven experience in-branding, print and electronic design

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, exempt, benefited position. Normal office hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, flexible to the needs of the department. Occasional nights and weekends required.
