Position Summary:

Act as lead teacher for a group of students in the After School Program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, design and implement age appropriate activities for students in a movement setting (outdoors and gymnasium). Experience teaching physical education, sports and games desired. Supervise students at all times and work with a Smith Aide to manage the group. Maintain a daily schedule/routine. Manage student behavior and report any concerns or problem behaviors to the Program Coordinator. Supervise extended day program.

Review the Parent Handbook for important information and school philosophies, procedures, etc. Report any injuries and/or illnesses and follow school guidelines and procedures for treating basic injuries and/or illness. Manage group supplies, equipment and space.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Associate's Degree in education or related field or prior experience teaching specialty area to elementary aged students. Experience working with children in group settings such as schools and camps.

Skills: Ability to form positive and supportive relationships with children and adults. Ability to be flexible and work as a member of a team. Good organizational and interpersonal skills; good computer skills.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Schedule - 14 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons and periodic meeting times TBA) for approximately 34 weeks per year between 9/5/18 and 5/31/19.
