Receiver - Dining Services

This is an academic year position, working 42 weeks per year.

Tufts Dining is a self-operated food service provider managing a comprehensive collegiate food service program on the Tufts University Medford-Somerville campus delivering high quality, contemporary and innovative food and hospitality services to meet the various needs of students, faculty, staff and visitors in a fiscally responsible manner. Our team operates a progressive resident dining program for approximately 4000 students as well as responsive retail services and a distinctive university catering program serving the campus community totaling 5100 undergraduates, 1700 graduate students, and 2300 faculty, staff and administrators.

The Receiver will be responsible for checking in all deliveries of food and non-food products according to established department procedures, transporting products to designated storage areas including refrigerated and frozen storage units, rotating stock and maintaining storage areas in neat, orderly and sanitary conditions. The Receiver will be responsible for driving a university vehicle to make deliveries of food, equipment and supplies to other locations on campus. The Receiver will deliver products to food production and customer service areas and stock service coolers as needed. In addition to receiving and stock responsibilities the Receiver will be responsible for the cleaning and general up keep of all storage areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles and other general cleaning duties in the unit such as floor care, ware washing and minor equipment maintenance as needed. The Receiver will follow all food safety guidelines from delivery to storage and will assist in completing a weekly physical inventory.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
  • At least 1 year of experience receiving and storing goods or handling food service supplies in a high volume operation.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Massachusetts Drivers License in good standing with no restrictions
  • Must be able to lift, carry and move at least 50lbs repeatedly.
  • Must be able to safely operate a 16ft. cab-over refer box truck and/or panel van.
  • Must read, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Must have demonstrated basic math skills including food service weights and measures and be able to read and understand receiving lists, packaging labels and vendor invoices.
  • Must wear steel toes shoes while at work which will be provided by Tufts Dining either through Shoes for Crews or as a stipend.
