Budget Analyst

There are multiple openings for this position.


The Budget Analyst reports to the Director of Budget Services and supports the Office of Budget and Planning with reporting, analysis, and chart of accounts maintenance needs. Main areas of responsibilities include: support for development of quarterly forecasts and annual budget submissions through the analysis of key performance indicators and assistance with various reporting packages and presentations to senior staff in the Office of Budget and Planning and assigned school/Unit; and general team support through monitoring budget performance, entering data into Axiom budgeting software, processing journals, and looking for ways to improve efficiencies. Ad hoc duties, including customized reports and analysis, as needed.

Director, Assistant Director, Senior Analyst Support:
• Support Dir/Asst Dir/Sr Analyst to develop quarterly forecasts and annual budget submissions by developing reports and analyzing variances in key performance indicators, by attending meetings with program managers, and by contributing to presentations for senior staff in OBP and in assigned school/Unit
• Support Dir/Asst Dir/Sr Analyst with fiscal year end close by processing adjusting entries, analyzing trial balances and variances between budget and actual expense, and contributing to presentations for senior staff in OBP and in assigned school/Unit
• Support Dir/Asst Dir/Sr Analyst with special projects
• Support Dir/Asst Dir/Sr Analyst develop ad hoc reports and presentations
General Team Support:
• Run team reports according to schedule and assess budget performance by identifying and researching variances and providing explanations
• Monitor balances of individual discretionary and gift funds
• Preform data entry into Axiom budgeting software
• Maintain Chart of Accounts for assigned school/Unit by creating new Dept IDs, updating PeopleSoft fields, monitoring program trees, and ensuring department staff have appropriate system access and row level security
• Respond to general inquiries and route questions as necessary
• Look for ways to improve reporting and streamline processes
• Process journals
• Ad hoc duties as requested


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or higher level of education
• Experience using Tableau, Salesforce, and other information systems
• 3-5 years related experience
• Demonstrated experience with Excel, including pivot tables, vlookups, report generation
• Ability to work effectively with highly diverse clients and colleagues
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated experience with taking initiative and being resourceful

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Higher education experience
