The Associate Bursar for Systems and Programs handles all operations of the Bursar's office involving activities in Residential Life, the assigning of dorms, billing and collection of Housing revenues and special reporting for the Dean of Student Affairs for budgeting purposes and other annual reports. This position is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Bursar website and coordination with other university publications. Provides on-demand timely and accurate reporting to Student Financial Services and its constituents using existing data warehouse and housing systems. Special projects are the responsibility of this position including the oversight and upkeep of the Tufts eBilling system and eRefund system and the continuous improvement of these products in conjunction with the contracted vendors; the training of Dowling Hall staff to assure the accuracy of our customer service; implementation and continuous improvement of the Housing and Judicial system that accommodates the needs of the Dean of Student Affairs, placement of students in dorm rooms and a lottery system for room selection throughout the year. This position oversees the annual production of IRS form 1098T for all schools in compliance with the Tax Relief Act of 1997. Participates on committees for the ongoing university effort to safeguard personal information in accordance with state and federal regulations. This position also serves as backup for most daily operational functions handled by the other Associate Bursar and Bursar in their absence; this includes Treasury operations, Cashnet system for cash processing and the oversight of staff accessing this system, refund processing, and other functions and will represent the Bursar at meetings and on committees as needed. As of June 2015 this position is responsible for the hiring, supervising, training and oversight of the Assistant Bursar position. Also responsible for providing leadership, knowledge and training for campus move-in/move-out Task force staff as it relates to newly acquired StarRez modules involving Campus Security, Residential Life and Residential Facilities staff. This requires providing security services for these departments to have access to the StarRez system.
Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
- 3 years of experience.
- Bachelor s degree.
- Microsoft Office with a strong understanding of Excel.
- Experience with relational databases and report writing.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Master s degree preferred.
- 3 to 5 years experience in higher education preferred.
- Experience with creating and updating websites.
- Experience with Crystal reporting, Access, and database programs strongly recommended.
- Knowledge of ERP Software, particularly Oracle/PeopleSoft for Higher Education preferred.
- Accounting background.
