Accounting Assistant - Dining Services

Tufts Dining is a self-operated food service provider managing a comprehensive collegiate food service program on the Tufts University Medford-Somerville campus delivering high quality, contemporary and innovative food and hospitality services to meet the various needs of students, faculty, staff and visitors in a fiscally responsible manner. Our team operates a progressive resident dining program for approximately 3500 students as well as responsive retail services and a distinctive university catering program serving the campus community totaling 5100 undergraduates, 1950 graduate students and 2250 faculty, staff and administrators.

The Accounting Assistant prepares and reconciles financial reports. S/he will reconcile income and expense items in Peoplesoft on a monthly basis. S/he will be responsible for account reconciliations for the various business units, including cash reconciliation. S/he will be asked to prepare financial and operational analysis monthly. S/he will be responsible for the weekly payroll submission for all regular, temporary and student employees. This position works closely with the Manager of Staffing and Training to ensure all employee time keeping records are correct. S/he maintains accurate financial records for the department, investigates variances in financial and account-level results, and researches and resolves discrepancies. S/he will contribute critical information to the formulation of accounting reports. Supports Business Operations Manager to provide department financial analysis. S/he strives to establish the best, most current financial transaction processes within the department.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
  • 2-5 years experience in a financial accounting role.
  • College level accounting training.
  • Analytical skills, ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and other MS Office tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • Knowledge of Peoplesoft.
  • Financial Analysis experience.
