Associate Dean of Admission-Operations

Founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1948, Stonehill is a private Catholic college located just 22 miles from downtown Boston on a beautiful 384-acre campus in Easton, Massachusetts. With a student to faculty ratio of 13:1, the College engages its 2,400+ students in 80+ rigorous academic programs in the liberal arts, sciences, and pre-professional fields.

Reporting to the Dean of Admission, the Associate Dean of Admission is a member of the senior management team within the office and assists with all phases of recruitment, evaluation and enrollment of new students to Stonehill College, including but not limited to: travel representing Stonehill to high school counselors, prospective students and parents, and the management of a geographic territory.  In addition, the Associate Dean of Admissions Operations will also direct the daily operations of the admissions office and play a key role in monitoring its day to day business practices.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise and mentor members of the counseling staff and Operations unit.
  • Oversee the coordinated Operations efforts of the Office, including, but not limited to, fulfillment of the communication plan, decision letter printing, stuffing, and mailing, coordination of processing the Common Application and the document management system associate with paperless reading, and general strategic process improvements as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with the Associate Dean of Admission Information Systems on the technology-related processes associated with the admission operation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Dean and the college-wide Office of Marketing to continually assess recruitment marketing materials and communication efforts, including but not limited to traditional brochures, e-communication, and social media.
  • Plan, manage, and conduct recruitment and counseling activities in a specific geographic territory while developing school counselor relationships, including approximately 3-4 weeks of recruitment travel for high school visits and college fairs.
  • Review approximately 300 early action, early decision and regular decision applications for admission and merit-based scholarships.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion, particularly in staff development and recruitment/enrollment efforts.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the counseling staff on matters related to recruitment travel, events and event planning, relationship management, team unity, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Conduct group information sessions and personal interviews for prospective students.
  • Develop and maintain communication with prospective students, parents and school counselors throughout the recruitment cycle.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The successful candidate will have at least 4-6 years of relevant experience in college or university admissions, significant supervisory and leadership experience, and excellent oral and written communication skills.  Previous experience working in Admissions Operations required.  A Master’s degree is preferred in Higher Education. Counseling or other relevant area along with a strong attention to detail and demonstrated organizational skills related to program/project management.  Ability to work evenings and weekends during peak times is required.  A valid driver’s license is required. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion is a must. Knowledge of SunGard Banner Enrollment Software is strongly preferred.
