STEAMFITTER/PIPEFITTER, Facilities-Repair and Maintenance (2 openings), to install, repair, maintain and trouble shoot a full range of high and low pressure steam, chilled water and compressed air systems across the Institute consisting of pressure reducing valves, traps, expansion joints, heating units, steam tables and boilers. Install, maintain and service new and existing commercial and industrial HVAC process systems. Respond to emergency mechanical system calls. Must be able to electric arc weld all piping systems as required and work towards A.S.M.E. certification for steel pipe.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: A minimum of ten years' recent experience applicable to the trade (including five-year apprenticeship) and a valid driver's license. Ability to work from blueprints, specifications, verbal instruction, or sketches is necessary. Must be able to locate, diagnose and correct defects and malfunctions on a variety of pipe systems, including the ability to electric arc weld all piping systems. Installs, maintains, inspects and tests in accordance with applicable standards and requirements of OSHA 10. Job #15528 May be required to work an irregular schedule and/or shift as required by the needs of operations. 1/10/18 MIT will conduct a background check (including checking criminal records) for finalists. For current MIT SEIU members, this background check will be done for finalists who are bidding for a promotion or for a voluntary transfer to another classification or seniority unit.
