SOCIAL MEDIA ASSOCIATE, MIT Technology Review (MITTR) , to create and distribute MITTR editorial and event content on digital platforms beyond the website and across social media, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and others. Will work under the direction of the platforms and growth editor with input from the director of audience development to fulfill the social media strategy and growth metrics. The primary responsibilities will include producing and publishing content for social channels; executing and iterating on growth strategies; monitoring social media accounts for news and community involvement; and social media promotion and live coverage of MITTR events like the EmTech conferences. The position involves working with colleagues across all divisions of the company, including marketing, events, sales, and product development, to help ensure that MITTR's voice on all off-platform communication is consistent with the brand while being appropriate to each platform.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED : three years' experience in social media content development, preferably in a newsroom and with a focus on technology or science; demonstrated news judgment and headline writing experience; ability to present the most interesting aspect of a news story; strong copy-editing skills; excellent spelling and grammar; understanding of journalistic ethics and ability to maintain those standards and fairness under deadline pressure; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously within deadline and changing priorities/conditions; proactive, organized, and accurate working style; understanding of the social media landscape; and an interest in technology and science news. Content development and social media experience--preferably with a focus on journalism, technology, or science--would be ideal. B.S. in journalism, technology, or related area preferred; as is experience with multimedia production. Job #16499-5

Must be able and willing to work varied shifts as determined by the news cycle, possibly including early mornings, nights, and occasional weekends and holidays.
