Senior Financial and Administrative Officer

SENIOR FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER, System Design and Management (SDM)/Integrated Design and Management (IDM) , to be responsible for financial statements, budgets, revenue and billing systems, fiscal operations and accounting, and human resource functions for graduate programs including approximately 180 students with multiple sources of tuition funding. Will develop and manage SDM budget and work with senior leadership to produce annual budgets and forecasts as part of developing short- and long-term financial strategies; provide fiscal and operational leadership for each team; serve as financial liaison to central MIT offices; manage programs' revenue and billing systems; oversee fund transfers, gift recording, teaching compensation, and reconciliations; advise faculty, students, and staff on fellowship awards, RA/TA/FE arrangements, student workers, and program-wide travel; manage all aspects of SDM and IDM financial operations; and supervise and train financial support staff. Will also serve as the local human resources representative by developing job descriptions and executing searches, onboarding new employees, and advising faculty and staff on sensitive employment matters.

IDM and SDM are jointly offered by the School of Engineering and the Sloan School of Management.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (master's preferred); at least seven years' experience in financial management or related field; ability to make independent decisions, understand complex budgeting units, manage a unique and complex program, communicate effectively to MIT and external stakeholders, and work both independently and collaboratively; strong organizational skills; flexibility; and experience handling sensitive materials and maintaining confidentiality. MIT experience and familiarity with MIT systems (SAP, MITSIS, GAP, BrioQuery, CyberSource, Roles Database, NextSource, etc.) highly desirable. Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
