PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATOR, Economics , to take a lead role--working closely with the administrative officer (AO)--in developing and administering the human resource function (HR) for the department. Will manage comprehensive HR services in the areas of recruitment; employee relations; compensation; employee development and training; rewards and recognition; strategic planning; and the coordination of student, affiliates, and visitor appointments. Will also oversee all aspects of HR operations; work closely with the AO to develop strategic HR plans and implement policies and processes; collaborate with MIT's central HR staff; directly supervise the department support staff; work with administrative and SRS program staff in providing guidance and direction with regard to MIT, state, and federal HR policies, procedures, practices; and perform hands-on work in a team-based environment.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; at least five years' relevant work experience in an HR role, preferably in higher education or a research center; ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of an organization; diplomacy and good judgment with confidential information/issues; ability to act as a resource on a variety of matters; self-motivation; comfort leading small groups; and attention to detail. Must be able to anticipate, plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines; efficiently multitask, organize, and manage a high volume of work; manage numerous requests from a variety of parties; and to think strategically about Economics' HR needs. Knowledge of relevant state and federal employment laws strongly preferred. Experience leading and managing small teams and working with a variety of people and work styles also preferred.
