Job Description:
OPAL/ENIGMA SENIOR PROGRAMMER/ANALYST, Sociotechnical Systems Research Center (SSRC), to serve as lead programmer for the Trust::Data Consortium, working on hands-on coding and architecture design for an MIT-based OPAL/Enigma open source project, covering the areas of data privacy, digital identity, and blockchain technology. Will develop a reference implementation of the OPAL/Enigma privacy-preserving data sharing system. This includes creating prototypes and maturing them into deployable software on-premises and in the cloud, participating in pilots and interop events, and collaborating closely with other developers and researchers to meet deadlines. Will also maintain a collaborative software project on GitHub, validate code contributions from other members, and perform project maintenance on a regular basis; and perform other duties as requested.
Job Requirements:
REQUIRED: minimum of seven years' software engineering experience, preferably with three years' practical experience identifying systems such as SAML2.0 systems and OpenID Connect, RDBMS or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB), RESTful APIs specifically for data access, and personal data management systems (e.g., Solid); bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; deep understanding of current software and service delivery modes, including microservices and containerization; broad knowledge of open source and related systems applications, processes, and technologies; expertise with development languages, e.g., C++, Java, Python, or Go; operational understanding of blockchain systems such as the Bitcoin; collaborative mind-set and enjoyment working on open source software projects; exceptional communication skills; passion for high-impact projects; excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills and ability to translate complex information system data to a nontechnical audience; good consulting, facilitating, and leadership skills; discretion with confidential information; self-motivation; organizational skills; and attention to detail.
