LEGAL ASSISTANT, Office of the General Counsel (OGC) , to provide legal administrative assistance to five attorneys. Responsibilities include intensive calendar management and meeting planning; drafting and revising correspondence and creating documents and forms; anticipating and meeting deadlines; organizing and tracking matters and documents in electronic document management system; keeping records and legal files; conducting basic legal research; generating reports and presentations in various formats (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); handling special projects; representing the OGC to internal/external stakeholders; developing and maintaining excellent relationships with staff and leadership at all levels of MIT, clients, the public, outside law firms, and other contacts; scheduling travel and events; ordering supplies; and providing other support as needed. Will work primarily with the specific attorneys assigned, but will also perform some additional office-wide tasks in support of all the attorneys and the OGC.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED : a minimum of five years' related experience; initiative and ability to complete projects independently; familiarity with procedures related to courts and administrative agencies; ability to independently organize, prioritize, and carry out detailed work in a busy office environment with minimal supervision; ability to troubleshoot, meet strict deadlines, and manage a high volume of work with speed and efficiency; accuracy and attention to detail; a collaborative work style; writing, editing, and proofreading proficiency; and proficiency with MS Office programs. Must exhibit tact and good judgment in handling confidential and potentially sensitive information and relationships. Seek professional who can deal effectively with the public, clients, vendors, students, staff, and leadership at all levels of the Institute. Bachelor's degree and experience in a law firm or in-house legal office preferred. Job #16772-6
