IT GENERALIST, Haystack Observatory, to provide technical support as part of the talented and resourceful IT team of a cutting-edge research facility. Will diagnose and resolve IT technical issues, configure and deploy servers and computer systems, and develop and maintain software scripts and software applications. Will be responsible for system rollouts, including software and hardware installations, cabling, and system and network configuration; writing Python scripts to integrate with embedded hardware; performing system administration duties (Linux, Windows, and Macs); reviewing, analyzing, and modifying systems including testing, debugging, and documenting; and performing other duties as requested. Will work under the supervision of the IT manager.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent; at least two years of experience performing system rollouts (software and hardware installation, cabling, system and network configuration); experience writing Python scripts; knowledge of Linux system level support (Windows and Mac highly desired); strong customer support and ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the observatory; general knowledge of and experience troubleshooting computer hardware software; self-motivation; and ability to multitask.
