Human Resources Manager

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), to join MIT's largest interdisciplinary research laboratory with approximately 1,000 members, a diverse sponsor base, and annual activities exceeding $70M. Will manage comprehensive human resources (HR) services for CSAIL in the areas of recruitment; employee relations; compensation; employee development and training; rewards and recognition; strategic planning; and coordination of student, affiliate, and visitor appointments. Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of HR operations; working closely with the administrative officer to develop strategic HR plans and implement policies and processes; collaborating with MIT's central HR staff and Office of the Vice President for Research; directly supervising the CSAIL HR team; working closely with CSAIL faculty, staff, and students; providing guidance and direction with regard to MIT, state, and federal HR policies, procedures, practices; and performing hands-on work in a team-based environment.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field; a minimum of seven years of direct human resources experience, preferably as a generalist; strong knowledge of HR functional areas, including recruitment, employee relations, compensation, policies and procedures, on-boarding, labor relations, performance management, and training; experience with the consistent application of human resources policies, regulations, and employment law and the ability to learn quickly as changes occur; demonstrated ability to maintain the utmost level of confidentiality and effectively handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgment and discretion; solid facilitation and mediation skills; commitment to supporting an inclusive workplace; and strong employee-relations skills.
