ELECTRICIAN, Facilities-Repair and Maintenance (R&M) , to perform electrical work in all areas of the Institute. Will install, maintain, and repair building electrical distribution systems, building and outside lighting systems, variable frequency drives, building safety equipment, motor control centers (including but not limited to fans, pumps, and motors), and other electrical-related systems; install and maintain fire alarm systems, which may include Simplex, Grinnell, Notifier and/or other types of fire protection systems once the necessary training has been provided by management; receive work order assignments, order materials, and complete tasks accurately with written comments provided on work orders upon completion; and perform all installation, maintenance, inspection, and testing in accordance with applicable standards and requirements of the Massachusetts' electrical code and/or established compliance requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED : high school diploma or its equivalent; minimum of five years of work experience with MA journeyman's electrician's license; ability to work from blueprints, specifications, wiring diagrams and schematics and sketches; and ability to lift weights of up to 50 pounds. Vocational training and participation in an electrical apprenticeship program preferred. Job #17039

Working conditions include ascending/descending stairs, traversing the campus, moving about the jobsite and machinery to access equipment, and/or remaining stationary for extended periods of time; working from ladders, scaffolds, and other above ground locations such as roofs; and wearing personal protective equipment based on specific assignment and ARC flash rated clothing. Environment contains dust, odors, and fumes, high levels of noise and temperature extremes. Work is performed near chemicals and solvents, steam, and moving machinery and in tight areas and confined spaces such as manholes and crawl spaces. Some work is performed in research labs and animal facilities and outdoors in inclement weather.

Schedule: Sunday to Thursday, 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M.
