Accounting Manager

ACCOUNTING MANAGER, edX, to be responsible for financial accounting and reporting needs and for providing input and independent judgment in managing the operational direction of edX. Will analyze and resolve complex accounting issues; develop and maintain effective internal controls, including preparation of account reconciliations; install best practices; and work closely with senior leadership while ensuring that systems, processes, and controls are in place to scale and support scale growth. Responsibilities include managing a team of two senior and one junior accountants; conducting monthly close along with financial statement review and variance analysis; leading and managing all department process improvements and implementing new financial system; collaborating with team members to ensure timely month-end reporting to management; providing leadership in strengthening internal communications with all levels of the organization; creating and promoting a positive and supportive work environment; maintaining accurate accounting records and documentation; participating in and compiling information for filings, including annual tax return and external audit; reviewing customer and vendor contracts for appropriate accounting treatment; serving as a key internal resource for technical accounting initiatives and questions; and supporting ad-hoc projects and analysis.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: at least five years' accounting experience; team management experience; excellent organization skills; ability to manage independent timelines and tasks; advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or another financial system; solid analytical, problem solving, and financial troubleshooting skills; strong understanding of the overall business organization and functions; and a desire to work in an exciting, fast-paced, and changing environment. Experience automating financial processes a plus. CPA strongly preferred. Job #15565-P
