Job Description:
Massasoit Community College seeks to attract an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of teaching, discovery, application and integration of knowledge. The successful applicant will join a vital and innovative department, as its members are reflective practitioners and knowledgeable teachers in their respective fields. They participate in their professional communities, and collaborate with colleagues in developing curriculum. They actively serve our students in obtaining the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in their careers.

Students may pursue a Certificate, Associate of Applied Science Degree or an Associate of Science Degree in CIS as offered by the Computer Technology and Information Management Department. This full time position will teach a range of computer courses fifteen hours/week between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The faculty member will need to be proficient in a broad scope of computer support skills including: operating systems software, programming, maintenance, end user support, and use and integrate Microsoft applications.


Essential duties and responsibilities:
Ability to develop and/or teach Computer Science courses such as Java Programming, C, C++, Data Structures and Algorithms, Networking, Operating Systems, Python and other courses as needed.
Commitment to community college students and their diverse backgrounds, aspirations, and learning needs.
Assess and maintain records of student performance.
Develop, revise, and implement course outlines, instructional materials and syllabi.
Participate in curriculum and instructional design and program development.
Make and maintain contacts with industry to assess current educational needs.
Attend regularly scheduled meetings and accept committee assignments.
Use available college software to advise students on program and course requirements, and career pathways.
Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
Demonstrate professional commitment to Department, Division, and College mission and values.
Demonstrate active engagement in the classroom, departmental projects, and college-wide initiatives.
Pursue professional development activities to maintain currency in the computer science and information management fields, and in innovative teaching practices best suited to technology education in community colleges.
Work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and staff.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Master's degree in Computer Science or highly related field.
Recent teaching experience in Higher Education, Community College level preferred in Computer Sciences or Computer Information Systems.
Familiarity with current trends in community college teaching and student success.
Willingness to manage hardware and software used in class.
Excellent oral, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to develop, implement, revise and maintain courses.
Willingness to implement student retention-related activities, and participate in articulation with four-year schools and collaborations with area high schools.
Create learning experiences which integrate emerging delivery methodologies to maximize student success, including, but not limited to, face-to-face, hybrid, web-enhanced, and online course delivery.
Fluency with learning management systems and other instructional technology (e.g., Canvas, Moodle, or Black Board.
Demonstrated commitment to the community college mission.

This an MCCC union position, state funded with benefits

Worksite: Assignments may be made at any Massasoit site, which includes Brockton, Canton and Middleborough.

Supervisor: Reports Directly to Division Dean of Business and Technology.

Term of Appointment: Full-time, tenure track position. Terms governed by MCCC/MTA
Agreement

Salary: $44,874.00 - $61,470.00 Salary and rank commensurate with education and experience in conjunction with MCCC classification
