Senior Investment Associate - Investment Office

In conjunction with the Board of Trustees, the Investment Office manages the University's long term investment program. The Office is responsible for all investment and operational aspects of this function, including asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager due diligence, hiring, monitoring, and performance measurement.

Assists the Director of Investments in managing long term investment portfolio assets, primarily private equity, venture capital, and impact investments. Conducts research and analysis in support of portfolio construction, manager selection, evaluation and monitoring of the portfolio.

Essential Functions:

Manages the existing investment portfolio, including maintaining in-depth knowledge of the underlying assets and the dynamics of the secondary markets. Prepares reports and analysis to facilitate the monitoring of the existing portfolio, maintaining and enhancing existing reporting processes working with a support team of analysts.
Analyzes new investments opportunities in the private equity and venture capital asset class as well as in the impact investing segment. Prepares quantitative analysis and qualitative summaries of potential investments. Reviews and summarizes related legal documentation. Becomes familiar with a wide range of sources for potential investments. Continually enhances expertise in evaluating underlying strategies, market instruments and managers. Maintains up-to-date understanding of global financial markets and asset class dynamics for input into the portfolio construction and asset management programs of the University.
Completes special projects. Works with the Director of Investments to complete a wide range of projects designed to enhance portfolio performance. Develops quantitative reporting tools to evaluate market conditions and portfolio construction alternatives. Researches specific strategies and investment topics. Evaluates software tools. Prepares summaries of results and recommendations.
Prepares accurate and detailed reporting on investment programs for review by the CIO, various governance bodies, Treasury and outside auditors. Updates database of potential investments that may be eligible for inclusion in the portfolio. Ensures the quality and integrity of the portfolio level data working with 3rd party vendors and internal systems/software.
Maintains and enhances the quality and integrity of the portfolio level data working with third party vendors and internal systems/software.
Develops and grows Tufts network in the financial services and asset management industries.
Contributes to overall Investment Office goals. Contributes to staff meetings reviewing potential investments across asset classes. Completes analytical work for CIO and others as necessary.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of Master s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent experience.
3-8 years of experience working in an investment management organization or an investment consulting firm.
Familiarity, as evidenced by professional experienced, with the private equity asset class. Demonstrated familiarity and interest in impact investing.
Strong computer skills, particularly with excel and various database management software.
Must have strong analytical skills and possess a basic understanding of alternative investment strategies and due diligence techniques necessary to evaluate such products.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Ability to work constructively on a team
Preferred Qualifications:
CFA
CAIA
Spanish or Chinese fluency
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
May require some travel.
