Job Summary
Simmons University is seeking a Legal Intern to assist the General Counsel's Office with various responsibilities for the 2019 Summer (approximately June 10th through August 9th). Reporting to the Institutional Equity Investigator, the Legal Intern will assist with contract review, legal research, problem-solving, risk management, the drafting of documents, and special projects for the Board of Trustees, as well as interact closely with University administrators.

This position will provide first-hand exposure to a variety of issues in higher education law, regulatory and internal policy compliance, risk management, and governance. This position requires discretion, diplomacy, and good judgment. The ideal candidate will be one who works well both independently and with others, and who can work with tight deadlines. Responsibilities:
  • Review contracts;
  • Conduct legal research for assigned projects;
  • Draft legal documents;
  • Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in law school, entering either the 2nd or 3rd year as of Fall 2019
  • Ability to demonstrate:
    • Well-developed research and writing skills
    • Strong computer skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Detail-oriented work habits
