Asst Provost, Assessment & Institutional Research

Tulane University, one of the nation’s most prestigious research institutions, seeks a new Assistant Provost for Assessment and Institutional Research.  The Assistant Provost will define strategies and direct all activities of the Office of Assessment and Institutional Research to promote the creation, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality Assessment and Institutional Research programs, in support of a culture of ambitious, creative, strategic decision-making grounded on robust analysis of the best available data.  The Assistant Provost sits on the university’s Administrative Council and serves as a key leader in the university’s accreditation process.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of learning outcomes assessment design and implementation, program review processes, program assessment, and development techniques.  She or he must have experience in test development and validation, survey design and management, performance evaluation systems, and multivariate statistical analysis.  Awareness of national trends related to assessment and educational research is a necessity, as are strong analytic skills.  The Assistant Provost must have a collaboratively leadership style and the ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external to the organization.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Master’s Degree in higher education, social sciences, statistics or a related field; Doctorate in same fields is preferred;
  2. Minimum of five years’ experience in assessment, evaluation, and research related to broad areas of curriculum development, instruction, student learning, or institutional effectiveness
  3. Three years’ managerial, supervisory, and budgetary oversight experience
