Job Summary | The University of Kentucky Art Museum is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized team player for the full-time position of Registrar. The Registrar is the caretaker of the permanent collection as well as temporary and long-term loans. Responsibilities include conservational storage, shipping, packing/unpacking, insurance, inventory, record keeping (both digital and hard files), registration, condition reporting, processing loan requests, maintaining museum archives, handling copyright permissions and publication requests, proofreading, and supervising interns. |
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Working knowledge of museum standards and best practices for collection management as set forth by the American Alliance of Museums. Physical dexterity for working with cumbersome or fragile materials to insure safety of the objects. Highly proficient computer skills, including collection management databases, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and creating/managing PDF forms. Position may require sitting at a desk, standing, walking, climbing, bending and stretching, and enough physical strength to lift and carry the maximum of 50 pounds. |

Preferred Education/Experience | Master's Degree preferred. Three to five years of direct museum experience. Driver's license preferred. |
