Job Summary | The Communications Project Estimator communicates with customers, internal departments, and contractors to create a telecommunications scope of work and cost estimate. Duties for the Communications Project Estimator include: evaluate and interpret customer requests; discuss scope of work with customer; visit site to evaluate environment; provide design information to other UK departments or outside vendors when required (conduit sizing and routing, system design requirements for remote sites); create a complete and comprehensive cost proposal with labor, material, and applicable associated costs; ensure scope of work included in estimate meets University Standards and national, state, and local codes; evaluate proposals from other departments and outside vendors for completeness and compliance with standards; prepare detailed and concise scopes of work; and create any required estimate design drawings using Microsoft Visio software. This position will also provide technical support to operations staff; work with supervisors to assure Project Managers and technicians understand scopes of work; provide updates to Project Managers, Engineers and Supervisors on new products in evaluation; and contribute to CNS department management decisions for implementing new technology, products, and procedures. |
