School Profile

The School of Theology and Ministry is housed in IWU’s College of Arts and Sciences on the residential campus in Marion, Indiana.  The School offers 13 majors and 16 minors with students who represent over 40 different denominations.  With 18 full-time faculty members housed in two school divisions, the School provides programs in both practical theology and religious and ministerial studies.  Also, housed within the School, the Kern Ministry Program is a seamless experience in which students earn a Master of Practical Theology in addition to an undergraduate degree in ministry.
 
Position Description:

Serve as strategic academic leader of the School of Theology and Ministry by providing leadership for the faculty in terms of program development, accreditation self-study, curriculum, administration, teaching, scholarship, and service. The Dean coordinates School of Theology and Ministry initiatives with leaders of other IWU academic and operational units to achieve the University’s mission. The Dean will be a member of The Wesleyan Church denomination.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide direct oversight for all academic and administrative matters concerning the development of School of Theology and Ministry programs.
2. Lead the faculty in strategic planning and monitor the process to further the School’s mission in teaching, scholarship, and service.
3. Supervise the process of seeking, achieving, and maintaining all necessary program accreditation.
4. Ensure that the faculty is involved with professional development and other scholarly activity.
5. Provide leadership in grant writing and other fundraising support for school programs.
6. Serve as liaison to the Wesleyan Denomination and represent Indiana Wesleyan University at church related events.
7. Teaching within the School of Theology and Ministry as needed.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrates a mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and willingly embraces the theological and lifestyle commitments of The Wesleyan Church.
• Capable of exercising mature spiritual leadership in all aspects of the development and administration of the School of Theology and Ministry.
• Earned Doctorate in a discipline within the School of Theology and Ministry.
• Two years of relevant administrative experience preferred.
• Evidence of excellent teaching, service, and scholarly attainment.
• Ordination in The Wesleyan Church.
