Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice @ UC Clermont

Position in Criminal Justice (Full-time, Tenure-Track, Rank Open commensurate with experience)

UC Clermont invites applications for Tenure-Track faculty position in Criminal Justice beginning August 15, 2018 unless otherwise indicated. UC Clermont is an open admissions regional campus thirty miles east of the University of Cincinnati in Batavia Ohio with an enrollment of approximately 3,500 students. The college offers a variety of certificates, transfer programs, two-year technical degrees, and a baccalaureate degree.

Job description: Teaching criminal justice related courses; assume leadership of the academic program in Criminal Justice, work in curriculum development, provide career advising for students; serve as liaison to community, public safety and service agencies. The position requires the candidate to assume responsibility for the daily operations of service-based programs by managing/reconciling program budgets, maintain appropriate files, schedule classes.

Minimum qualifications: A Masters degree in a related field with 7 years criminal justice experience in the public sector; 3 years' experience in management or program development; demonstrable experience in the function of a broad range of law enforcement and criminal investigation; 3 years' experience teaching in higher education or at the post-secondary level; certified as, or qualified to be certified as an OPOTA Instructor.

Ideal qualifications: Doctoral degree in a related field; completion of advanced law enforcement training (i.e. FBI National Academy, Southern Police Institute, FBI-LEEDA Command Course sequence, etc.); certified as, or qualified to be certified as, an OPOTA Basic School Commander; and 5 years program development or organizational administration with 3 years of experience as a supervisor; act as program director for the Police Academy by developing and implementing comprehensive public safety and service training programs related to criminal justice, police academy and fire safety;
