Annual Giving Program Assistant Manager

The University of Illinois Foundation has an immediate opening for one full-time, Annual Giving Program Assistant Manager. The position reports to the Annual Giving Program Manager. The Program Manager/Assistant Manager share responsibility for implementing and managing the Foundation’s ongoing telephone solicitation program at the UIF Call Center, which raises approximately $4 million in donor pledges annually. The Foundation's Urbana-Champaign Call Center conducts outbound telephone solicitation, stewardship, cultivation, and event reminder calling on behalf of the university’s advancement, marketing, and communication programs. These positions coordinate and manage unit specific responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, motivating, monitoring performance, and evaluating more than 180 student employees. These positions hold primary responsibility for building calling campaigns in the telemarketing software package. The Manager/Assistant Manager alternate daytime/evening shifts.

Fall/Spring – Calling occurs Sunday through Thursday. One person will work Sun (12p to 10p); Monday (1p to 10p); Tuesday & Wednesday (9a to 5p); Thursday (11a to approx. 7p). The other will work Monday (9a to 5p); Tuesday & Wednesday (1p to 10p); Thursday (12p to 9p); Friday (9a to 5p).

Summer – Calling occurs Monday through Thursday. Manager/Assistant Manager alternate 2 night shifts Monday through Thursday (1p to 10p) and 3 day (9a to 5p) shifts with both working Friday’s day shift.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, communications, or other appropriate field. Supervisory experience required with preference given to candidates with at least one year of telephone solicitation, sales/training, or customer service experience. Applicants must possess excellent motivational, communicative and supervisory skills. Computer proficiency is required, and database experience is preferred. Enthusiastic leadership, interpersonal skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet short deadlines are also necessary. Candidate must be able to work in Champaign, Illinois.
