Academic Emergency Medicine Position - Ultrasound

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Division of Emergency Medicine is seeking an additional emergency medicine physician to work clinically and help to expand point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) expertise. SIU School of Medicine is well known for research and innovation in medical education.  This position would work closely with the Director of Emergency Ultrasound in building the division’s Section of Emergency Ultrasound.  Successful candidates must be committed to education, excellence in patient care, and research.  The Division of Emergency Medicine accepts eight residents per year in its three year residency program.  It also coordinates a four-week Year 3 clerkship in Emergency Medicine as well as many Year 4 offerings including one in Emergency Ultrasound.  This position will be working primarily at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield IL.  Memorial Medical Center is a fully accredited Level 1 Trauma Center, a comprehensive stroke center, a STEMI receiving center, and has a total annual ED volume exceeding 70,000. Springfield, Illinois is the capital city and offers many of the opportunities associated with a larger city while providing a friendly atmosphere and excellent quality of life.  Qualified candidates must be BC/BE in Emergency Medicine, completed an Emergency Ultrasound fellowship, in process of completing an EUS fellowship, or exhibits a body of academic work equivalent to a candidate who has completed a EUS fellowship, and able to be licensed in the State of Illinois.
