Talent Search Transitions Specialist



Function:
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Manager of Talent Search Transistions Grant in carrying out the prescribed ECC Talent Search grant from the Department of Education and to follow the guidelines for the Education Department of General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR) and Budget (OMB) and to report results to EDGAR and OMB. The Specialist will communicate directly with the targeted high schools and middle schools and assist in the recruitment and deployment of the Talent Search grant.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Recruit train and match adult mentors for the program.

2. Coordinate middle school and ECC visits.

3. Coordinate educational support services.

4. Serve as an advocate for faculty, staff and students.

5. Provide referrals to colleges and community resources.

6. Assist with data collection.

7. Provide data summaries and audits of the Transistions Program.

Physical Demands:
Light Work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Position requires close visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. preparing/analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes).

Moderate noise.

Typical office or administrative conditions (i.e. not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions).

Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in education, communications, behavioral sciences, organizational management or related field from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

2. Minimum five years experience in education, secondary or post-secondary.

3. Documentable experience working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

4. Ability to work well with middle school and high school students and their families.

5. Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills.

6. Experience working with grants.

7. Proficient with Microsoft Office software (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook).

8. Posess strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

Desired Qualifications:
1. Grant reporting experience is preferred.

2. Experience with bookkeeping highly desirable.

3. Experience working with diverse and first-generation college student populations preferred.
