Talent Search Transitions - Student Lead



Function:
Tutors will be responsible for providing individual and group tutorial sessions for middle school and high school students in grades 6 - 10 in District 509. Prefer that individuals provide tutorial sessions in alternative multi-discipline subject areas.

Essential Responsibilities:
Provide classroom tutorial support and mentoring activities for middle or high school students in subject area

Essential Responsibilities Continued:
1. Tutor / assist students with homework & SAT preparation
2. Work in cooperation with other tutors & instructors
3. Conduct individual and group tutoring sessions
4. Provide encouragement to participants for academic persistence and success
5. Attend in service training and Talent Search Transition Program staff meetings
6. Attend cultural events during the Academic Year Component
7. Record students' performance on a daily / weekly basis

Required Qualifications:
1. High School diploma

2. Must have demonstrated sensitivity to the target population (academic and personal needs of economically and academically disadvantaged youth).

Desired Qualifications:
1. Candidate with background similar to target population preferred.

2. Teaching or tutoring experience preferred

3. Some college coursework
