Scholarship Specialist III



Function:

Assist students and parents in understanding ECC financial aid programs, regulations and processes. Coordinate various scholarship programs and process awards for scholarships. Coordinate federal, institutional, and international student worker on-campus employment opportunities. Disseminate financial aid information to the community.

Essential Responsibilities:

? Explain financial aid process to prospective/new students and parents. Examine all submitted documents to determine eligibility for award.

? Process awards and deposit funds in appropriate general ledger accounts.

? Issue award or denial letters for each applicant and maintain scholarship award files for each recipient.

? Monitor each scholarship to ensure funds are used appropriately. Periodically review unused funds; alert management of under-awarded scholarships. Assist Accounting department with scholarship reconciliations.

? Coordinate on-campus/community service positions for federal, institutional, and international student workers. Evaluate student skills/interests to determine appropriate placement. Process all paperwork required. Monitor Federal Work Study earnings to ensure earnings do not exceed awarded amount.

? Inform all eligible students of the opportunity to perform community services. Develop and make available information about community service opportunities.

? Represent ECC Student Financial Aid Office at all high school and outreach presentations.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Position requires close visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. preparing/analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes).

Required Qualifications:

? Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

? Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

? Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups both internally and externally to the organization.

? Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

? Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

? Two years experience in accounting or finance, preferably in an education setting.

? Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of software products.

? Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.

? Ability to multi-task.

? Strong communication and organization skills.
