Program Services Specialist School Readiness Coach

Job Description/Responsibilities

The purpose of the Program Services Specialist-School Readiness Coach is to promote the quality of instructional services-from both the perspective of the student and of the staff. As a certified CLASS observer, the School Readiness Coach ensures the prescribed curriculum (Creative Curriculum) and assessment tool (GOLD) are consistently implemented with fidelity throughout all program options and provides ongoing training and technical assistance for teaching staff utilizing the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS). The School Readiness Coach participates in the analysis of student outcome data and supports all transitional activities. The Program Services Specialist-School Readiness Coach may be assigned other related tasks in support of the department’s mission and goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Any one or any combination of the following types of preparation:
    (a) credit for college course work comparable to that leading to a major in social work
    or one of the social or behavioral sciences (i.e. Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood
    Education or Education; Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, History, etc.)
    (b) progressively more responsible social service/counseling work experience at a
    paraprofessional level under qualified supervision that totals 1.0 unit according to the
    following conversion rates:

120 semester hours (or Bachelor's degree) of "a" = 1.0 unit

three years of "b" = 1.0 unit.

 

Amounts of education and experience less than those listed above should be converted to decimal
equivalents of 1.0 unit and added together when computing combinations of the different types of
preparation.

 

 

Additional Skills Preferred by Hiring Unit

 

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  2. Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Education Leadership or related field with experience in pre-school environment.
  3. One year of administrative and/or training experience.
