Position Title: Campus Provost/Dean of Academics for the Belleville Campus
Location: Belleville, Ill.
Start Date: July 1, 2015
Closing Date: February 15, 2015
Purpose of Position: To lead the faculty and the academic initiatives set by the administration at Lindenwood University—Belleville, a small Midwestern liberal arts campus, which is part of the larger Lindenwood University system. These academic initiatives will include leading a stellar academic community where 98 percent of the faculty hold the highest degrees in their fields; enhancing library services; increasing retention, particularly among first time freshmen; and managing the campus academic student services, while administering system-wide policies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide administration leadership and supervision for Academics and Academic Services on the Belleville campus.
- Supervise division chairs and faculty.
- Supervise library, assistant registrar, and academic advisors.
- Oversee all academic policies, procedures, initiatives, programs, and curricula for the Belleville campus.
- Serve as official academic representative to most external academic organizations, including the Illinois Coordinating Board for Higher Education and various accrediting bodies.
- Interpret, review, recommend, and enforce academic policies.
- Oversee the development of new degree programs and the creation of all academic program proposals.
- Sit on faculty committees and contribute to the annual strategic planning process.
- Be responsible for academic reports that administration submits to accrediting, governmental, and polling organizations.
- Contribute oversight and guidance in the preparation and publication of various academic booklets.
- Be responsible for producing all academic course schedules and catalogs.
- Oversee annual faculty evaluation process and the resulting faculty personnel decisions.
- Serve as the advocate for the faculty and coordinate the hiring and development of faculty.
- Coordinate and guide academic retention efforts.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Job may require other duties as assigned by the campus president.
Position Requirements: This position requires strong leadership and collaborative skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective relationships with the community, faculty, students and staff. Position requires creativity and initiative. Highly developed analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Education Requirements: Terminal degree from a regionally accredited university is required.
Experience Requirements: 5-7 years of experience in higher education administration.
Hours/Days: Mon. – Fri. 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., some weekends and evenings required
Exempt/non-exempt status: Exempt
Length of Contract: 12-month appointment
