Endowed Chair & Director of Center for Educational Transformation

Position Description:

The College of Education at the University of Northern Iowa seeks a 12-month Richard O. Jacobson Endowed Chair in Education to promote and expand the College's long-standing commitment to working with faculty within the College and across campus, preK-12 schools, and community partners, and contribute to building and maintaining the intellectual capacity to support the University's vision of campus vitality. As the Director of the Center for Educational Transformation (CET), this individual will facilitate educational innovation, research and dissemination, and elevate the national reputation of the University through the Center's goals of research, practice, and policy. CET will be well-positioned to attract significant external funds and build a reputation for the University as an engaged and desirable partner both locally and nationally. The faculty member is also expected to teach, conduct research, and perform service activities within their field of study.

Education Requirements:

Ph.D. or Ed.D. in the area of curriculum and instruction, special education, educational psychology, educational policy, evaluation/assessment, physical or health education, or other advanced degree grounded in a related field required. Candidates must demonstrate a sustained record of research, teaching, and service to substantiate the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

Required Qualifications:

Additional qualifications include successful school and/or community partnership experiences; significant scholarly productivity including publications on issues in education and educational partnerships; evidence of excellence in teaching in higher education; strong record of interdisciplinary leadership and partnerships with schools and/or educational or community organizations; ability to mentor junior faculty, work with doctoral students, and collaborate with mid-career and senior faculty engaged in university and community partnership work; successful history of grant-funded research and other initiatives; and commitment to equity and social justice.

Desirable Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with administrative experience including successful management, staff oversight, and funding of a research center; innovation in expanding partnership endeavors and identifying new and interdisciplinary ways of addressing educational challenges; established national professional reputation in an academic field; and expertise on national issues in preK-12 educational reform.
