Position Description:

The University of Northern Iowa invites nominations and applications for Head, Department of Economics and Department of Finance, beginning August 1, 2017. The appointment is for the academic year of nine months plus two-month summer assignment. Successful candidate will serve as head of Department of Economics and Department of Finance; provide leadership at the College, University, state, national and international levels; advocate for department and college interests; recruit, retain, and develop faculty; develop long-term strategic partnerships; implement fundraising and scholarship initiatives; oversee department operations; and support the development of new curriculum including a college-wide data analytics program. Salary is competitive based on qualifications and market conditions. Compensation for administration and/or teaching during the two-month summer assignment is paid at two-ninths of base salary. Excellent fringe benefits include TIAA or IPERS.

Education Requirements:

PhD in Economics required.

Required Qualifications:

Additional requirements include evidence of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service that qualifies candidate for tenured appointment at rank of full professor in Department of Economics. Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills also required.

Desirable Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with administrative experience and understanding of AACSB accreditation standards.
