Position Description:

The College of Business Administration seeks internal applications for the position of Associate Dean. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Business Administration and working with department heads, faculty and professional staff, the Associate Dean provides leadership for meeting AACSB accreditation standards, undergraduate support services provided through advising operations, administration of interdisciplinary curriculum managed at the College level, and College & University recruitment and retention activities. Serves as the Dean's designee in the management and approval of student issues processes, curriculum, and management and assignment of building space. Represents the Dean and/or the College at University meetings and on University committees. Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean. The appointment length is 11 months (academic year + 2 months) with 9-month salary range $115,000 to commensurate.

Primary responsibilities include:


  • Provide support and coordination for AACSB accreditation in the College




  • Communicate with AACSB as the College's liaison, under the direction of the Dean. Prepare annual strategic planning, impact, faculty deployment, qualification and sufficiency reports. Prepare reports related to AACSB accreditation process including the accreditation application and the Continuous Improvement Review (CIR) report. Maintain databases necessary for accreditation, including but not limited to FAR data collection system. Serve as chair of Assurance of Impact Committee and conduct research projects, e.g. LinkedIn and citation, for data collection and impact measurement for accreditation purposes. Collaborate with undergraduate and graduate assessment coordinators regarding assessment timelines and reporting for Assurance of Learning (AOL) outcomes. Lead five-year strategic planning processes and maintain documentation. Plan and coordinate CIR team visit. Collaborate with Administrative Assistant for AACSB's BSQ and Salary Surveys. Share AACSB documents with faculty via the Portal.




  • Serve as administrator for all undergraduate interdisciplinary programs (Degrees, Majors, Minors, Courses and Certificates) for the College. This includes, but is not limited to, the BAS degree, International Business minors, International Business certificates, and PRP courses.




  • Provide leadership and supervision of the undergraduate advising operations




  • Create and implement strategies to enhance services provided to students in their transition from student to business professional including, but not limited to, advising, career services, study abroad, credential achievement, and diversity/inclusion. Seek strategic engagement of student organizations and Living & Learning Community (LLC) managed by advisors (Excel, Business Student Ambassadors, Business LLC). Coordinate and plan with appropriate staff in the Office of Professional Distinction to elevate the importance of students developing a professional distinction.




  • Coordinate, with appropriate staff, retention and recruitment activities supported through advising operations (i.e., year-round University recruitment events: Panther Open Houses, CBA Days, Up-Close for admitted students, orientation events as related to CBA responsibilities, campus visits with Office of Admissions, etc.)




  • Coordinate the student issues processes (i.e., review and process academic inquiries, petitions and grievances) and serve as the Dean's Designee for signing all student issue documents




  • Coordinate building maintenance, updates, and space assignments




  • Serve as primary contact for the ITS staff assigned to the College and work with ITS staff to establish strategic priorities for technology in the College




  • Serve as the Dean's Designee for approval of curriculum in the College




  • Serve as a liaison to the University, serving on University councils and committees associated with, but not limited to, recruitment and retention




  • Communicate University and College strategies and policies to academic, professional and support staff within the College




  • Represent Dean at University meetings and events or take on the responsibilities of the Dean in their absence.




  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean



Education Requirements:

Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution

Required Qualifications:


  • Tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills

  • Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, and time management skills

  • Ability to work as part of a leadership team and use discretion regarding student academic affairs

  • Ability to provide vision and leadership to academic programs, student services, and continuous improvement of the College and its operations
