Assistant Professor, Physical Education Pedagogy

Position Description:

The Division of Physical Education in the School of Kinesiology, Allied Health and Human Services at the University of Northern Iowa is seeking an Assistant Professor in Physical Education Pedagogy. We invite professionals strongly committed to the academic and professional preparation of physical education teachers to apply. This position involves teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in two or more of the following areas: Adapted Physical Education, Measurement and Evaluation in Physical Education, Elementary Methods, Secondary Methods, and Administration and Curriculum of Physical Education. Responsibilities also include scholarship, professional service, advising students, and supervision of undergraduate and master research projects. As an accredited educator preparation program in the State of Iowa, professional education faculty members are responsible for incorporating Chapter 79, Iowa Code, Responsibilities of Professional Education Faculty Members in their professional activities.

Education Requirements:

Doctorate in physical education, kinesiology, or related area required. ABD's will be considered.

Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching; ability to establish a research agenda, conduct research, and publish manuscripts; and commitment to professional service also required.

Desirable Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with public school and/or university teaching experience; familiarity with state-of-the-art technology; and record of collaborative work.
