Asst. VP Business & Financial Affairs/Comptroller

 

Assistant Vice President & Financial Affairs/Comptroller

Chief Accounting Officer for the university; oversees the daily operations of accounting, payroll, accounts payable, grants accounting and reporting, procurement, treasury management and budget management function; oversees budget monitoring.   Serves as key contact internally for external audits and ensures compliance with all University System policies and state and federal regulations.  Provides leadership, supervision, and direction to the financial management and reporting staff; provides guidance to department heads, deans, and academic chairs for utilization of allocated resources. Supervises the preparation of the University’s Annual Financial Report; oversees accounting manual, fiscal policies, and procedures training programs.  Ensures efficient utilizations of enterprise management system to maintain accurate financial records for the University.  Reviews financial trends and maintains key analytical data on the University’s financials to assist management in planning, presenting, and conveying accurate financial illustration of the University to various constituents.  Performs other related duties as required.  Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a Certified Public Accountant; an advanced degree is desired.  Minimum of ten years of experience in general ledger management with experience supervising accountants with varying levels of experience.  Fund accounting experience desired, preferably within a higher education institution.  Experience in budget development and management and complex procurement regulations a plus.  Background and/or credit check may be required.
