MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition related field from an accredited university, college and course work approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Two (2) years related experience in higher education and/or related field of study, including supervised practice program internship at a health-care facility, community agency, and a foodservice management related field

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW OR INSTITUTION:
  • Registration eligible with Commission on Dietetic Registration and license eligible in the State of Georgia


Preferred Qualifications:
  • ServSafe Certification preferred
  • Familiar with electronic medical recording systems


Job Purpose:
Provides nutritional education, guidance and counseling to members of the University community. Interprets health assessment results and uses data to plan, promote, implement, and evaluate nutritional education programs for students and employees. Collaborates with Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Health Services and Center for Young Adult Addiction and Recovery in providing nutritional counseling for students. This position will also be responsible for providing and evaluating nutrition education programs including eating disorders, sports nutrition, nutrition for health maintenance and prevention of chronic diseases, basic healthy cooking skills, and other related topics. This position will serve as a campus resource person and provide external referrals as needed. This position will also be responsible for maintaining records, reports, and files according to state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides one-on-one nutritional counseling for students and provides follow up care as needed
  • Oversees Wellness Education and Cooking Demonstration Kitchen and develops, implements and evaluates cooking demonstration classes for students
  • Responsible for providing and evaluating nutritional education programs (i.e., eating disorders, sports nutrition, prevention of chronic diseases, basic healthy cooking skills and nutrition for health maintenance)
  • Maintains records and files according to state and federal regulations and compiles monthly and annual reports
  • Assists with grant writing and funding/sponsorship proposals and provides administrative support to department
  • Serves as a campus resource providing external referrals as needed
  • Coordinates, supervises and evaluates student interns, and assistants and develops and reviews internship protocols

Funding for this position is based upon revenue generated funds and therefore continued employment is based on availability of these funds.
