Graduate Assistant-Counseling, Foundations & Leadership

Job Summary

This position requires 19 hours of on-site work per week starting spring 2019 in the Department of Counseling, Foundations and Leadership in College of Education & Health Professions, Downtown River Park Campus, Columbus State University, Columbus, GA. The selected student will earn a monthly stipend. Nine hours of graduate tuition, fees and semester fee will be paid by the assistantship during the duration of employment. The assistantship maybe renewed based on end-of-semester performance evaluation in accordance to the position responsibilities and CSU Graduate School policies. Selected candidates will be called for an in-person interview. The final hiring decision for this position is contingent upon successful completion CSU's Institutional Research Board (IRB) training for conducting ethical research on human subjects.

Responsibilities

Provide assistance in conducting evaluation related to Strengthening Institution Program grant project; provide assistance with literature review, data compilation, and data analysis as required; conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis as required; provide assistance with the preparation of manuscripts for conference presentations and journal publications as required and other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

Ability to use SPSS for descriptive and inferential data analysis; experience with conducting interviews and transcribing interview data; good knowledge of Microsoft Office with special emphasis on MS Excel and MS Word; good knowledge of APA style formatting utilized for writing research manuscripts; possess great attention to detail, has professional demeanor, willing to show initiative, has a thorough and methodological approach to work and excellent organizational skills.

Proposed Salary

This position will work a maximum of 19 hours per week.

Conditions of Employment

A student holding an appointment as a graduate assistant must be fully admitted to a Columbus State University graduate degree, diploma or certificate program, be in good academic standing (GPA >=3.0), and earn a minimum of nine semester hours of graduate course work (or required prerequisites) during the period in which the assistantship is held (tuition waiver pertains to a maximum of ten hours). Students granted full assistantships are not permitted to reduce their course load to less than 9 hours and retain the assistantship.

Applicant Eligibility: Pursuing an on-campus Master's degree at CSU on a full-time basis. Given the nature of work responsibilities, students graduating only in Fall 2019 semester or beyond are eligible to apply.
