POSITION SUMMARY:
The Space Utilization Planner assists in planning and coordinating campus-wide use of space and physical facilities, maintains current floor plans and data on campus facilities, receives and analyzes requests for space, develops plans to maximize facility use, makes space allocation recommendations to administration, and may develop analytical studies in support of space or physical facility changes.

The Space Utilization Planner's main purpose is to plan, research and analyze existing and future University physical facilities needs and act as the space data custodian for the University's automated space system. This position is occasionally responsible for assigning activities to other employees. This position will receive assignments in the form of results expected, due dates and general procedures to follow. This position is required to compile, check and reconcile information. Duties are somewhat varied in nature, requiring independent judgment involving commonly encountered problems. Unusual cases or questionable matters are referred to the next level of supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Formulates and recommends University policies relating to space utilization. Receives and analyzes requests for space, develops plans to maximize facility use, and makes space allocation recommendations to administration. Develops analytical studies in support of space or physical facility changes and supports the University Space Committee.

Manages information systems on space database in coordination with USF System for submission of BOE and facilities file, educational plant survey, production and plan, and other reporting as required. Maintains current floor plans and data on campus facilities.

Administers planning and implementation of space related programs. Designs and supervises training efforts for facilities file and systems maintenance for all campuses. Assists in design of new systems, processes and maintenance related to physical facilities file.

Physically inspects rooms and buildings to verify space data. Provides information and reports on space. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The position requires master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Computer Technology or Business Administration; or a bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Computer Technology or Business Administration and two years of appropriate experience. Directly related career experience may be substituted for the degree requirements on a year for year basis.
