Assistant General Counsel - 125600

The University of West Florida Office of the General Counsel in Pensacola, FL is seeking highly motivated applicants for the full-time position of Assistant General Counsel (125600). The positions report to the General Counsel and involve providing a wide range of legal services to institutional clients.

Minimum Qualifications: Law degree (L.L.B or J.D.) and must be a member of the Florida Bar.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with employment law, contracts, Florida law, and law affecting Florida state entities. Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.

The Assistant General Counsel is a licensed attorney whose function is to support the General Counsel and other attorneys in the Office of General Counsel with the preparation and review of legal documents, assisting with subpoenas, public, student and employee records requests, university policy and regulation preparation, and legal research as assigned by the General Counsel or other attorneys. This position assists the General Counsel and other attorneys in the Office of General Counsel in all phases of office responsibility and will engage in a wide-ranging legal practice focusing on general higher education issues, including employment law, student issues, transactional law, risk management, and records management.
