The Department of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Delaware seeks an experienced researcher with strong quantitative skills with a focus on at-risk children, youth, and their families. This will be one of four new hires over the last two years to build the areas of at-risk families and their communities. The faculty member will also teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to children, youth and families, research methods, and applied research methods. Successful grant writing, both state and federal, is expected. Position begins September 1, 2017.

The Department of Human Development & Family Studies is an interdisciplinary department that focuses on the study of critical social issues affecting individuals, families, and communities, along with poverty and at-risk families and teacher education and professional development in early childhood (www.hdfs.udel.edu). The College of Education and Human Development is dedicated to finding answers to the problems that confront our communities and schools, and to develop solutions to the challenges faced by children, youth and families around the world. Qualifications
A Ph.D. in human development, family studies, social work, sociology, psychology, prevention science, education, or a related field with extensive training in quantitative methods is required. Applicants must have experience with designing and/or carrying out large scale studies, demonstrated promise in attracting external funding, and worked as a member of an interdisciplinary, collaborative team. Candidates with an interest and/or experience in research focusing on human services for children, youth, and their families, poverty, at-risk populations, and/or nonprofit programming/evaluations are especially encouraged to apply.
