Sr. Business Administrator

PAY GRADE: 32E

CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Under the limited direction of the Associate Vice Provost, PCS and the Vice Provost, OGPE, this position is the Chief Financial Officer for PCS and OGPE.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversight responsibility for financial activity. Annual operating expense budgets exceeding $15.0 million. Manage a hybrid operations budget of allocated expenses and multiple self-support programs. Additional financial responsibility includes approximately $10 million in endowments, gift income and other funds.
  • Recommend financial models and policies. Prepare annual budget turnaround. Implement budgets for all departments and coordinate salary turnaround. Analyze the financial implications of alternate usage of funds for review by the Provost's Office.
  • Provide budget and actual monthly financial analysis, specialty reporting, account auditing, and full funds reporting projections to the leadership and the Budget Office. Monitor spending throughout the year. Audit all purposes and accounts and oversee all transactions related to income and expenditures of the units within PCS and OGPE.
  • Manage external funding projects like federal grants, awards and fellowships and sponsored contracts.
  • Recommend new or revised policies as needed. Participate in strategic planning
  • Execute projects involving possible future shifts in policy and/or practice. Provide decision-makers with financial and statistical ramifications of various courses of action.
  • Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree six years related experience. Master's degree in business or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in an academic environment preferred.
  • Skill in strategic planning and budget preparation and management.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and administrative and budgetary systems, preferable fund accounting.
  • Ability to gather and analyze financial and other data, create and generate reports and make administrative/procedural recommendations and decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and give attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop, organize and manage unit projects requiring advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of University databases and systems including UDataGlance, PeopleSoft, CashNet, Works, Sakai, and UDSIS, preferred.
  • Proficiency in the Windows environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Human Resources policies and practices.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community and to maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • A high degree of maturity, judgment and leadership ability.
