Program Assistant, Cooperative Extension

Under the general direction of the SNAP-Ed Principal Investigator, the Program Coordinator provides support and day to day operations and manages programs in support of staff statewide. A limited amount of direct educational programming will occur around a specific area. The position is 100% grant funded annually.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Create state of SNAP-Ed logo and marketing materials to be used across partners and in the community. Use social media, newsletters and other avenues to promote the program.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and coordination of the social marketing programming for the State Service Centers.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of statewide work focused on creating systems and environments that support healthy eating for low-income individuals.
  • Serve on county and state Extension committees and committees with public and private agencies, local and professional organizations and community leaders.
  • Assist with planning, developing, and delivery of trainings, presentations, website articles, blogs for the website.
  • Provide program data required to assist in completing county, state, national and grant reporting.
  • Recommend new policy and program initiatives or changes to enhance current programs.
  • Assist in planning meetings and creating agendas.
  • Follow affirmative action and equal opportunity guidelines to insure equal access to Extension programs.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with UD/CANR/Cooperative Extension policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence through formal and non-formal courses and conferences as well as other professional development opportunities.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and one years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Degree in nutrition or health behavior sciences preferred.
  • Knowledge of positive youth development and adult education methods.
  • Computing skills, with ability to use various Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Familiarity and experience with online communications vehicles, including e-mail, web communications, social media, etc.
  • Organizational, management and human relations skills.
  • Written communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information on an individual/group basis with a specific target audience(s).


Special Requirements:
  • Position requires some evening and weekend work.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation required.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a comprehensive background investigation including fingerprints/criminal history, which indicates that the individual is suitable for employment in compliance with applicable federal and/or state regulations.
