Nurse, University Staff Nurse: University of Delaware Student Health

Pay Grade: 30N

Services has a Nurse opening for our medical team, in the Immunization dept. This is a fully benefitted position that is responsible for smooth and efficient functioning of this dept. This includes assessment of allergic reactions, allergy injections, ppd placement/readings, familiarity with all vaccines.. This position will also be responsible to QI studies, training staff members within the dept., collaborating with public health, and maintaining supplies. This is a 10 month full-time position working each academic year. Scheduled hours are 8:00-4:30. Requirements include:

  • State of Delaware Licensed Registered Nurse (or RN licensed in a compact state) and the following minimum education and experience: diploma from accredited school of nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing and seven years college health nursing or related clinical experience* or BSN with four years college health nursing or related clinical experience* or MSN with three years college health nursing or related clinical experience.

  • Previous experience Administering immunizations, TB screening tests, allergy injections, antibiotic and biologic injections required

  • Interaction with State Division of Public Health preferred.

  • Policies & procedures experience preferred.

  • Experience with Flu Clinics preferred

  • The duties of this position could include, but are not limited to:

  • Taking week-end nurse call, one to two times per semester.

  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.

  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments and demonstrating use of equipment, procedures, the EMR, and point of care testing.

  • Ability to maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards.

  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures, JCAHO or AAAHC accreditation and certification requirements and standards. Understand compliance with DE and CDC regulations for immunization administration.
