HRIS Analyst/Sr HRIS Analyst

CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Under limited direction of the Director, HRIS, the HRIS Analyst provides functional and technical expertise to take full advantage of the PeopleSoft HCM product, UD internal self-service systems (Web Forms, Web Views) and other related applications to meet the business needs and requirements. The HRIS Analyst must develop and maintain strong professional relationships with all Human Resources groups, the Information Technology department, Institutional Research & Effectiveness department and the greater University community. These relationships are critical in order for the HRIS Analyst to act as a liaison between end users and technical resources to resolve daily production issues, create reports, develop enhancements and implement new processes and systems. The HRIS Analyst ensures the integrity of the data and is responsible for automating and enhancing business processes to make Human Resource more efficient and effective.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • In collaboration with users, evaluates the current practices and functional work requirements and recommends more efficient and effective solutions for automating and enhancing business processes.
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots and takes to resolution any issues in PeopleSoft HCM, Web Forms, Web Views, related applications and vendor interfaces that impact Human Resources.
  • Prioritizes all tasks and assignments based on available resources that are required when implementing a new system, creating enhancements for an existing system or a large volume of production fixes.
  • Develops written technical requirements for the Informational Technology staff when implementing a new system, enhancing an existing system, creating reports or addressing production issues.
  • Collaborate with application programmers and database administrators on a daily basis to develop and implement enhancements or to troubleshoot and solve production problems.
  • Understands the impact of, anticipates, plans, creates test scenarios and troubleshoots issues resulting from enhancements, configuration changes or system fixes.
  • Test new systems, enhancements and production fixes by mirroring the functional work or writing ad hoc queries which requires a thorough understanding of the function process and data.
  • Communicates with IT staff the results of the testing and determines if further programming is needed.
  • Verifies that all programming changes for new systems, enhancements, reports or fixes are placed into production and work appropriately in that environment.
  • Keeps departments apprised of the enhancements and fixes that impact their area.
  • Creates documentation and trains the functional users on features and/or changes.
  • Develops and enhances reports to verify the accuracy and integrity of all system data and to support information needs of Human Resources staff and other University end users.
  • Researches ways to leverage existing and new functionality to creatively resolve business requirements and needs.
  • Collaborate with third party vendors on implementing and troubleshooting interfaces to ensure accuracy of the University's data.
  • Collaborates within the HRIS team as well as with other University project teams, e.g., financials and student administration, to ensure that data integrity and timeliness needs are met and that system interfaces are properly specified and tested.
  • Develops and maintains written documentation of all HRIS systems, applications and web projects including modifications, enhancements, problems, interfaces, data dictionary maintenance, etc.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SQL, current reporting tools, techniques and standards MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
  • PeopleSoft 8.3 or higher experience preferred or other ERP reporting experience.
  • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with others, strong customer service skills, ability to meet deadlines in a productive manner.
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Excellent problem solving, math or statistical and analytic skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to use advanced techniques in spreadsheet, database and/or presentation software.
  • Knowledge of unit programs, policies and procedures preferred.
