Asst Director of Admissions, Marketing & Communications Project Manager

CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions receives approximately 28,000 freshman and transfer applications per year, hosts on-campus and off-campus recruitment events, and maintains a prospect list of more than 300,000 prospective students globally. This role provides project management support for all of the projects and communication plans for the marketing and communication team in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This role requires a strong, demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities, deliverables, and timelines. The building and managing of project plans are essential to the success and support of the admissions and recruitment goals. With leadership and support from the associate director, this position collaborates closely with the admissions marketing team, the admissions processing team, the various colleges and departments, and the University Office of Communications and Marketing. The individual will help to develop and implement strong and thorough communication plans for various admissions audiences. He/she will help to ensure that the overall marketing efforts fit with the broader strategic plan. The role also requires management of a small recruitment territory along with regular interaction (presentations, phone, email, appointments, etc.) with prospective students and their families.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop project plans and timelines for all admissions marketing and communication projects. Monitor and manage departmental communication plans according to established timelines.
  • Collaborate broadly within the department to develop and implement communication plans for specialized outreach (precollege programs, special events for multicultural outreach, international initiatives, etc.).
  • Collaborate broadly with various campus units outside of the admissions department (colleges and other administrative units) to develop and manage communication plans.
  • Support the communication specialist with content development, as necessary.
  • Work closely with the internal admissions Marketing and Communications Team and the University Office of Communications and Marketing to develop and maintain schedules.
  • Import content, test messages and add audiences through the CRM tool.
  • Analyze data and trends.
  • Maintain a small recruitment territory and application file reading load.
  • Perform roles related to admissions counseling - presenting, answering emails, connecting with school counselors, reading applications, visiting high schools and participating in college fairs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree, and three-five years direct or closely related experience required.
  • Detail-oriented
  • Effective written and oral communication and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to present effectively to small and large groups required.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community required.
  • Required ability to multi-task, work independently and as a team member to achieve common goals, and to exercise sound judgment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of higher education and marketing is desired.
  • Experience with Slate or another CRM.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or other project management tools is preferred.
  • HTML experience is a plus.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
