2 Faculty Positions in Social Psychology, Associate Professor Level

University of Delaware, College of Arts & Sciences, 2 Faculty Positions in social psychology in Psychological and Brain Sciences, Associate Professor Level

The University of Delaware invites applications for TWO tenured associate professors in social psychology to begin September 1, 2018. For the first position we are seeking to hire a scholar with a solid social psychological and interdisciplinary background who studies a consequential problem - for example, diversity issues, health and wellness, social justice, health disparities, or prejudice and stereotyping.

For the second position we are seeking to hire someone whose social psychological research program intersects with questions of political behavior, broadly defined. This scholar will have a 75% appointment in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and a 25% appointment in the Department of Political Science and International Relations and will be expected to contribute to political science's growing political psychology group. It should be noted that the Department of Political Science and International Relations is simultaneously conducting an additional associate level political psychology search ( http://apply.interfolio.com/46263), to be housed primarily in that department with 25% appointment in Psychological and Brain Sciences. Applicants may wish to consider either position, depending on their primary discipline.

The ideal applicants will have a strong record of programmatic interdisciplinary research and securing external funding. Applicants who use a multi-method approach and have interests/expertise in biological measures (e.g., neuroimaging, electrophysiological, peripheral and/or psychophysiological methods, computational modeling) are especially encouraged to apply. The exact content area is open for both positions - scholarly excellence is preferred above all else. This is an outstanding opportunity for scholars to join and strengthen a growing social program in a department that already has a promising core of interdisciplinary researchers utilizing cutting edge methodologies.

An innovative leader in research and teaching, the University of Delaware combines a rich historic legacy with a commitment to education and the latest in advanced technology. With external funding exceeding $200 million per year, the University ranks among the top 100 universities in federal R&D support for science and engineering. Enhanced by state-of-the-art facilities, research is conducted across all seven colleges and numerous interdisciplinary institutes and centers. Relevant facilities on campus include the new 11,600 square foot Center for Biomedical and Brain Imaging, housing a 3T Siemens Magnetom Prisma and transcranial magnetic stimulation machine; a 103,000 square foot Health Sciences Complex, a facility that includes labs for human-based studies and an active outpatient clinic; a 194,000 square foot Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory; the Delaware Technology Park, where entrepreneurial and academic research labs are co-located; and the newly formed Biden Institute, a research and policy center devoted to solving the most pressing domestic policy problems facing America. The Delaware Health Sciences Alliance (DHSA), a partnership among the University of Delaware, Christiana Care Health System, Nemours/Alfred I. du Pont Hospital for Children, and Thomas Jefferson University, provides infrastructure and opportunity for innovative clinical and translational collaborations.

The University of Delaware is located in Newark, Delaware, which is only a short drive or train from Philadelphia, PA. UD is also within driving distance of New York City, Baltimore, Washington DC, the Poconos and some of the finest beaches in the country, making it an ideal location for day or weekend trips.
