The Center's multi-disciplined staff consists of 5 faculty, 27 professionals, 23 staff, and up to 50 miscellaneous wage seasonal employees. EACREC is responsible for conducting research in the areas of agronomic and vegetable crop production (variety testing, pest and crop, nutrient, and irrigation management), poultry research and diagnostic programs, and supports Extension programs in agronomic, horticulture (Commercial, ornamental, greens industry, and home owners - Master Gardeners), poultry production, 4-H youth and development, family and consumer sciences, and expanded food and nutrition programs.

This includes preparation of seed packaging/treatment, and operation of field research equipment that involve cultural practices, planting, pest management, and data collection and harvest, including precision ag software associated with such equipment.
  • Assist in supervision and coordination of non-exempt staff and students on fieldwork and data collection associated with the variety-testing program.
  • Compile and analyze data collected for the variety testing using statistical software programs.
  • Working closely with the Farm Manager and the Associate Scientist, assist with the application of fertilizer and pesticide applications on field crops.
  • Assist with the maintenance and operations of the Pesticide Storage and Handling facility at EACREC that supports all field crop research.
  • Collect soil fertility data for the EACREC and maintain the computer database associated with land use and field history data (Farm Logic).
  • Assist with the coordination of crop variety field day events.
  • Assist with the compilation of research and summary reports for growers, Ag industry, University staff, field crop boards, state and federal agencies in written format and the web.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Scientist at EACREC.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, Plant Science or closely related field with a minimum of 2 years' field research experience.
